Programming Philosophy

Radio programming is the heart of our ministry. In choosing our programming, we adhere to this philosophy:

  • Absolutely Authentically Catholic : As lay Catholics, we take the responsibility of broadcasting the Catholic Faith on the air very seriously. We look to the Catechism of the Catholic Church as a guideline to the boundaries of our Faith. We invite each bishop, priest and all listeners to contact us immediately if they ever hear anything broadcast on the air that does not accurately represent the Catholic Faith.

  • Evangelization and Catechesis : The underlying purpose of our programming is evangelization and catechesis. Our hope is to help motivate our listeners to further their knowledge of the Catholic Faith and to seek a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. In doing so, we hope to participate in a small way in the Church's efforts to lead people to Christ.

  • Balanced Programming: Immaculate Heart Radio brings you a wide variety of the best in Catholic programming, from EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) to Ave Maria Radio to Catholic Answers to Vatican Radio. Additionally, Immaculate Heart Radio brings listeners a pro-life perspective with the weekly show Gift Of Life, and a local Catholic perspective with the Bishops Radio Hour.

Bishops Hour

In each city, we offer one hour a day of free airtime to the Bishop to use as he desires. Bishop Soto of Sacramento has created a daily live call-in talk show Monday through Friday that highlights different aspects and events in the diocese. The Bishop is on the air about one day every two weeks. On Sunday, he broadcasts a live Mass from a different parish each week.

The other bishops are hoping to start shows in their cities as soon as we have the technical ability and they have the funding.
